After putting the girls to bed just a bit ago, I noticed a strange odor in the hallway, and called Joe out to sniff. We tracked down the scent to the kitchen, which was full of smoke. My first thought was something was on fire, but we soon discovered it was an aresol can of carpet protector(Scotchguard) that had sprung a leak!! There was a rusty spot on the can, where it had been stored under my kitchen sink and had obviously gotten wet at some point...it left the floor all sticky from the cloud of fumes, and even now, almost an hour later, it still reeks in here, despite the fact we have windows open, exhaust fan on, and a floor fan sucking air out and directed out the screen door. Fortunatly, we had left the cabinet doors under the sink open from earlier, when my sink quit working and Joe had tried unsuccessfully to repair it....otherwise, we may not have discovered the leeking can as quickly-I shudder to think if we had all gone to bed, and possibly died in our sleep from inhaling those noxious fumes!
Such drama around here today, I tell ya! Sheesh! The girls frantically called me outside earlier today to look at a big snapping turtlethey found, poor thing was nearly dead, I'm guessing someone ran over him or something, 'cause the whole center of his shell was gone, and you could see all his bleeding, damaged tissues underneath. Before I got outside to investigate, Joe had hosed it off, he said it was covered with what looked like maggots and flies, poor poor thing! The girls were near tears, and wanted to take it to the doctor. I took some photos, may be too disturbing to show here tho'.
To add to the stressful day, not long after the turtle incident, Joe and the girls were riding their bikes, and I was outside snapping pics(those I CAN show ya, see below), when Camryn, who just this weekend made the switch from lil' girl 3 wheeler to big sister's outgrown bike w/training wheels, tried to make a sharp turn and fell over in the ditch, her head came inches from landing in the water all in the ditch, and I swear I almost flew to her side!! Joe kept saying she's ok, she's ok, but Camryn was screaming, and being the worry-wart I am, I snatched her up and went inside to check for boo-boos. Luckily, there weren't any, and before she even stopped blubbering, she was asking to wash off the mud, so it's off to the kitchen sink, where of course, it decides to die before we've gotten all the soap off! GRRRR!!!! Joe worked on it for almost an hour, then got feed up and said we'd go to Home Depot tomorrow to see about getting a new sink and/or faucet.
~Sorry the picture's so big! This was taken BEFORE Camryn wiped out!~
Now that I've about gone full circle on our eventful day ;) think I'll head to bed. Leah's just got 7 days of school left, and then thank God we can sleep a lil' later in the mornings! *LOL* Y'all take care, and have a fantastic week! Thanks so much to those of you who come read my silly scribblings, and your tags and comments always bring me a smile!
